This office skills course advances prior knowledge - you will develop an understanding of automation concepts in this intensive course which will also give
you an opportunity to gain a certificate.

This course develops the IT skills you will need to support your return to the workplace in the areas of administration, office or secretarial work. It will also help to develop other workplace skills such as working to a brief, team working, etc.

Course Content

You will learn how to

* Be able to produce professional looking documents with Word 365
* Create and deliver professional presentations with Powerpoint 365
* Be able to speed up routine tasks and gain more personal productivity by integrating work across the different office packages.
* Be able to use coding or macro(s), to automate multiple actions within a word processing program.
* Be able to use formulae and/or functions, to automate calculations/tasks within Excel 365
* Understand Data security and new data protection regulations - implications for the office.

This is not a beginners course.

The modules are taught so that you gain knowledge of best practice and are able to evaluate the use of IT so that your work practices are efficient.

The methods of teaching are:
Classroom based with work related material
Group work and Pair work
One to One support and careers advice
Project work
Class assignments

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

Entry is by tutor approval only. Students should have a good knowledge of ICT systems and/or already work within an office or IT environment. You would
already have an office skills level 1 or equivalent background. Learners will need a good standard of literacy and numeracy prior to considering this course.
You will need a minimum of Level 1 in both due to the written nature of some of the assignments.

On a computer you will need to be able to:
-use a keyboard, mouse and computer with confidence.
-open a new document, save and file it in a folder.

Ideally you will have already completed Office Skills Certificate Level 1, or a basic course using Office software. We will however consider past practical experience. There will be an interview and a formal screening session to ensure that the course will meet your needs.

First Class Requirements

Pen, paper and a memory stick for saving work electronically.

Attendance Requirements

As this is a qualification based course you need to have 100% attendance.
Developing IT skills is an ongoing process and the exercises are built upon your progress week by week.

Assessment Methods

This qualification is gained by producing a portfolio which is produced from class based exercises with ongoing feedback provided by the tutor. This is assessed by the tutor and the final portfolio is then reviewed by an external moderator to verify the qualification
