Ceramics Handbuilding Workshop
C00605
This course is designed for people wishing to learn about ceramics at any level. Beginners are welcome and will be taught the three basic skills of handbuilding; pinching, coiling and slab-building. They will develop an understanding of the malleability of clay, the different types of clay and their different firing temperatures. The course will also teach a basic understanding of glazing, including the different methods of applying glazes and their outcomes. For the more advanced ceramicists, a project will be set each term that challenges a certain aspect of ceramics. However, there is no obligation to take part in the termly projects and participants are welcome to follow their own agenda in this workshop. In this instance advice will be given and participants will be encouraged to challenge their current knowledge.
