CELTA - Taster

This is a short course which is designed to give you an understanding of the CELTA course. It will enable you to learn about what the CELTA course covers, in particular the demands of the course and finally what you can do after you have attained the CELTA qualification.

Please note it is highly recommended you attend one of these Tasters before considering a place on the CELTA course itself.

Course Content

This short course will enable you to learn about the structure and content of the CELTA course as well as the demands and rigours of the course.

You will learn about how you are assessed on the course and how the college manages the assessment requirements of the course.

You will learn about how we screen and interview candidates for the course and what our expectations of you as a learner are whilst you are on the course.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

There are no formal entry requirements for this Taster course. However, you should have a good command of the English language; at least to IELTS level 6.0. You should also be able to read English to a Level 3 standard. And be able to clearly communicate in English.

Please note that these are the Entry requirements for this Taster course and not the Entry requirements for the CELTA course itself.

First Class Requirements

There is no need to bring any particular equipment to this course.

Attendance Requirements

There is only the one session on this course. You are expected to remain for the duration of the session. However, if you find (or decide) during the session that this course (the CELTA) is not what you want and/or will be able to undertake, then you are of course welcome to leave the session.

Please notify the tutor at the most convenient opportunity.

Assessment Methods

No formal assessment.

Further Study Options

CELTA course. If you decide that this is unsuitable, then you could progress onto the Level 3 Award in Education and Training which is a generic initial teacher training course.
