Paediatric First Aid Training

This is a full level 3 Paeditric First Aid certificate valid for three years. This qualification will provide you with the first aid skills recommended for someone working with children and it is a requirement of Ofsted for new staff working in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The course is divided into two parts: 6 hours online followed by 6 hours in the classroom. The online part must be completed prior to attending the classroom session. You will will receive an email with your log in details when the time comes to start. The on line part cannot be completed earlier than 5 weeks before the classroom session and it is best to do it two weeks before attending college so that the answers are fresh in your mind.

Course Content

From 3 April 2017 all newly qualified entrants to the early years workforce with a level 2 or 3 qualification must also have either a full or emergency PFA certificate within 3 months of starting work In order to be counted in ratios.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

Once you have enrolled on the college website for the classroom based session, you should email Alison.Archibald@rhacc.ac.uk so that you can be set up on the online course. You will receive an email from Pro-Training with your log in details.

Attendance Requirements

You must complete the online part prior to attending on the class. If you have not completed the online part you will not be permitted to attend the classroom session and will forfeit the course fee.

Assessment Methods

The online part of the course consists of a series of video clips with questions and a final test. The classroom-based session includes assessment of practical demonstrations of first aid skills.
