Access to Business Studies is the perfect opportunity for you to prepare for university, if have not completed your Alevels. This course will give you a articulate knowledge of Business across a range of areas including Business Management, Marketing, Finance, and Business Economics.

Course Content

Fifteen business modules will give you a solid preparation in different areas of business, for example:

- market research, market segmentation and online promotion strategies;
- principles of economic behaviour: demand and supply, marginal costing and break even points
- cash budgets and balances;
- leadership styles and business decision making
- human resources and employee motivation

In addition, some study skills units will prepare you to conduct academic research, manage your time and organize your coursework in the most effective ways, and express yourself in an engaging and professional way both verbally and in writing.

Entry Requirements

For your application to be considered you must be 18 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date

You should have a grade C or above at GCSE English and Maths gained within the last five years; alternatively, you can complete an entry test to assess your skills.

Learners must be aged 19 and over on the 31st August 2018; however, we may consider applications from applicants aged 18, in the right circumstances.

As a part of the enrolment process, you will be interviewed to assess whether the course is appropriate for you.

Attendance Requirements

In line with the college's policies, it is expected 100% attendance.

Assessment Methods

Your progress will be regularly assessed through a mix of written and verbal activities; a final assessments will certify the achievement of the learning objectives and successful completion of the units.

Further Study Options

Completing this course allows you to apply for university degree courses.
100% our learners were made offers in the last academic year; learners completing this qualification have succeeded in gaining a place at university to study subjects such as Marketing, Finance, Enterprise and Management.

As a special offer for Access learners, you have the option of choosing a free leisure course starting in September/January, of a duration of one term or less

Additional Information

Some of our courses are now delivered through remote learning, including video conferencing (using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype) and email contact with your tutor.

If your course is indicated as an ONLINE COURSE, you will need either a PC (with a camera and microphone), laptop, tablet, smartphone and access to the internet to be able to join the lessons. Lessons will run at the published time – so be ready and set up to join in.

An Access course offers the equivalent of 3 Alevels; it is expected some time of independent study outside of classroom time.
You will be supported by a personal tutor throughout your course, and additional learning support is available to those who need it.
