Acting & Performing Skills for Budding Actors

This exciting new re-start of the RHACC's iconic course will be a flexible blend of classroom and online teaching, tailored to the group's needs. The maximum group size has been set enabling safe socially distanced classroom sessions, as well as creating a unique opportunity for the ultimate balance of personal attention and group work.
You will be introduced to a range of acting and storytelling techniques, you will enjoy the playful drama games and improvisations, work on texts and monologues, giving you the opportunity to express yourself physically and vocally, as well as find new facets of yourself, in the safe, supportive community.
This course leads to the further opportunity of working towards a New Richmond Actors production in a subsequent term, for those who attended the Budding Actors course

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on the start date of the course.

This course is for beginners and those with some basic knowledge of acting. To benefit most from the course, you should be able to:

Listen and respond to instructions and feedback
Be happy to take part in class discussions and interact with other learners
Be able to read a script and/or related text (level 1/level 2 literacy skills = GCSE English)
Work within groups and in pairs safely and confidently

Attendance Requirements

Full attendance is recommended.

Assessment Methods

There is no formal assessment but progress will be monitored by observation and question and answer, and learners will be given regular feedback on how to improve.

You will be given regular verbal feedback by your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. You will also be asked to indicate your personal planned learning outcomes at the start of the course and will be able to discuss your progress against them with the tutor.

Further Study Options

This course offers the ability to gain confidence and progress onto either a further education course or onto professional work.

Remote Learning:
Some of our courses are now delivered through remote learning, including video conferencing (using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype) and email contact with your tutor.

If your course is indicated as an ONLINE COURSE, you will need either a PC (with a camera and microphone), laptop, tablet, smartphone and access to the internet to be able to join the lessons. Lessons will run at the published time – so be ready and set up to join in.
