Ballet for beginners to intermediate dancers.

Course Content

Stretch warm up
Ballet Barre exercises- Plies, Tendu, Rond De Jambe, Fondu, Frappe, Developpe, and Grand Battement. For example
Centre work and corner sequences- Port De Bra, Adage, Pirouette, Allegro, Grand Allegro.
Barre or centre cool down.
*This course will not tutor in ballet character work dances. So heels, skirts, and scarfs are not required.

Entry Requirements

This course is for adults who want to exercise in a way that has creativity and artistry involved as well to learn more about ballet through dancing in the style.
No past experience is required, but understanding the mode of a ballet class will really help learners be successful in accessing the courses full content.
You should wear tight fitting exercise clothes, or ballet tights and leotard/cardigan, ballet shoes, or socks and bring a water bottle.

Assessment Methods

Each term we will focus on learning set exercises within the balletic style. These will incorporate styles of ballet such as: classical, romantic, neo-classical, modern/contemporary, Balanchine- inspired, and Cecchetti-inspired.
Not all exercises will be done to classical music, but the barre will always be done to classical ballet music.
As each term will focus on set exercises some common exercises may not be done in a term so other exercises can be focused on and excelled at.
