If you are keen to learn BSL but would like to get an idea of the learning process before committing to a longer course, this short introductory course is for you!

Course Content

This course is a short introduction to British Sign Language for complete beginners. By the end of the course, you will be able to sign your name, use numbers, greet someone and introduce yourself, as well as give simple information about yourself.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

No prior experience of signing is required but an interest in the Deaf community and culture is important.

Attendance Requirements

Regular attendance is essential to guarantee progress.

Assessment Methods

Learners will discuss their goals with the tutor who will assess their progress during the course through in-class observation and a range of activities. You will record and reflect on your progress in your Personal Learning Plan (PLP).
