AAT Access is a short qualification that introduces you to fundamental business and finance skills. It s a practical way to increase your employability, confidence and career prospects.

This Level 1 qualification covers a range of skills and relevant supporting knowledge to help prepare learners for applying numbers in business and working in a business environment.

It will give students an understanding of:

how different organisations operate
how to contribute effectively in the workplace
how businesses process sales and purchases, and the documents and procedures associated with this.
Learners will also be equipped with the basic numerical skills needed in the workplace, such as decimals, percentages and fractions, and applying proportions and ratios.

This course can potentially start you on the path to a successful accounting and finance career with the AAT qualification which is recognised by leading employers in the UK and around the world.

Course Content

You will study the following 2 units

1) Working in the business environment
This unit introduces you to the skills needed in the workplace, including the importance of teamwork, communication, effective time management and professional behaviour. You ll also learn about some of the core finance processes linked to sales and purchase orders.

Understand how sales and purchases support businesses.
Apply business procedures to sales and purchases.

2) Using numbers in business
Numeracy is an essential business skill. This unit will introduce you to the basic skills needed when working with numbers in a business environment, developing confidence and skills to use and apply numbers to a wide range of situations.

Learning outcomes:
Perform simple business calculations.
Calculate decimals, fractions, percentage, proportions and ratios.
Use tools and techniques to present numerical data.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

There are no specific entry requirements. However, you will require reasonable English, Maths and I.T skills. You will need to take an initial assessment and have at least be working towards Entry 3.4 level or above with your reading and writing.

First Class Requirements

The qualification is assessed in 2 end-of-qualification assessments for each of the units.
