A CCNA certification opens the doors to a career in networking. Having this qualification means you have what it takes to setup and manage a small, enterprise branch network. the CCNA7 is your first step toward CCNA certification and will help you stand out from the crowd in entry-level positions.

This course comprehensive and exciting course will give you the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to understand and set up small/medium sized routed networks using Cisco devices. The course prepares you to take the CCNA exam and is aimed at those people who wish to enter the IT industry and work in networking or IT support. The course is delivered on site but learners wishing to access the course entirely remotely can be considered on a case by case basis subject to their prior knowledge and ability to self direct learning.

Please note this course is supported by our CISCO Academy and is an intensive programme. Late starts are possible subject to you meeting specific criteria or having prior experience. For example you may be working in an IT infrastructure or networking related role and need to attain this qualification for professional development reasons. You may also have an older version of the CCNA, partial prior achievement and wish to upgrade it to the latest standard.

Course Content

This course covers the three modules of the full Cisco Routing and Switching CCNA that contain the knowledge needed to prepare for the internal CCNA1, 2 and 3 exams which are CISCO certified

Those module are:
CCNA: Introduction to Networks
CCNA: Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials
CCNA: Enterprise Networking, Security, and Automation

The course is presented using presentations, exercises and hands-on labs. You will learn knowledge and skills related to network fundamentals, LAN switching technologies, routing technologies, infrastructure services, and infrastructure maintenance

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

Entry is by tutor approval only. Students should ideally have a good general knowledge of IT and may be working in the IT industry or changing careers. Students should have at least 4-6 hours per week for independent learning to keep up with the reading and practical content

Learners will need a good standard of literacy and numeracy prior to considering this course.

First Class Requirements

A memory stick to save work electronically.
A folder to keep handouts and printouts of work produced.
Pen to complete written documentation
A computer to run packet tracer software (check the system requirements for this online) - PC is preferred.

Attendance Requirements

All absences need to be reported as this is a vendor qualification course. If you are aware of any commitments that will cause you to be absent please let the Tutor know as soon as possible.

Assessment Methods

You will be assessed by weekly chapter tests, a hands on skills exam and theory tests for each of the CCNA modules. The college is accredited to awarding CISCO certificates for CCNA1, 2 and CCNA3 after successful completion of the practical and skills based training.

The official Cisco CCENT exam (2-31 CCNA) can be taken externally at a Pearson Vue testing centre. The learner will be responsible for arranging and purchasing this test themselves. There is the opportunity to earn a discount voucher for this exam by successful completion of the final exam.

Further Study Options

You can progress onto the CCST (Cybersecurity Entry) course or CCNP Enterprise (Professional level), some students also elect to look at our Level 3 daytime cybersecurity practices programme or CISCO IT essentials to improve their hardware knowledge.
