Why Study This Course?
The woven darn is a simple, beautiful way to extend the life of your clothes – once a common household skill, it is now nearly forgotten in the age of fast fashion. In this three-hour workshop, you’ll learn this traditional hand-mending technique and use it to repair a cherished garment. All materials will be provided – just bring along something you’d like to mend!

-Introduction to woven darning
-Tools and materials
-Preparing the fabric
-Step-by-step darning technique
-Guided practice on personal garments
-Finishing and care tips
Course aims:
-Learn the basics of the woven darning technique
-Build confidence in hand-mending clothes
-Promote sustainable, slow fashion practices
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
The assessment process is carried out using Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) and regular discussions with the tutor.
This includes tracking your own practice through written notes and tutors written responses, gauging your progression and personal development through the course.
