Cooking with Confidence

This course is aimed at enthusiastic food lovers who need a confidence boost in the kitchen. It?s ideal for those who want to learn the fundamental kitchen skills to create simple weekday dinners, ideas for entertaining and successful baking techniques. You will also learn how to make the best use of food staples and technique to make your cooking more achievable and enjoyable.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on the start date of the course.

This course is aimed at absolute beginners. Basic cookery skills are beneficial but a love of cooking and preparing food is more important.

First Class Requirements

You do not have to bring anything to the first class. If you wish to make notes, you could bring a notepad and pen. You will be advised on what to bring to class at least a week before, for the duration of the course.

Attendance Requirements

To get the best from the course, a good attendance is recommended, so you do not miss any teaching.

Assessment Methods

The tutor will work where possible on a one to one basis to assess your cooking skills and give advice on how to improve. You will have an Individual learning plan to record your progress and the tutor will give you a feedback on your progress. You will be taught by clear demonstrations in the group and one to one teaching.

Additional Information

As a result of the government’s closure of schools and colleges, some of our courses will be delivered through remote learning including video conferencing, (using Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and email contact with your tutor.

If your course is indicated as an ONLINE COURSE, you will need either a PC (with a camera and microphone), laptop, tablet, smartphone and access to the internet to be able to join the lessons. Lessons will run at the published time – so be ready and set up to join in.

Please note that some of the cookery activities will require working in pairs, sharing equipment, setting up and clearing the work area and equipment independently.
