This course will enable you to develop an understanding of digital marketing and social media. You will work on a number of live projects developing your skillset with contemporary social media and digital marketing techniques. This course is for anyone looking to develop a practical skillset with social media through an intensive training programme. You may be seeking employment, further education or to use these skills for self employment or your business/charity.

Course Content

Units delivered as part of this course are focused towards social media and digital marketing and include elements of web design, online security, content creation for Social media and SEO. You will cover a total of 4 units in an intensive training course that will enable you to develop an understanding of the uses of social media and develop practical skills with creating and publishing websites, creating content for social media with text, image, audio and video and internet broadcasting such as live streaming or making webinars.

In more depth the units are as follows:

Understanding the Uses of Social Media for Business

The learner will be able to:

Demonstrate the use of blogs, microblogs, social networks and file sharing
sites for promoting and running his/her business.
Identify appropriate sites and software for networking and file sharing activities
for his/her business.
Choose secure passwords for social media accounts.
Set appropriate privacy levels for social media accounts.
Demonstrate how to recognise and avoid common online scams.
Set up an online profile that promotes trust
Identify how s/he could use social media to conduct market research for his/her business.
Identify how s/he could use social media to advertise products and services

Creating and Publishing Websites

The learner will:
Be able to use structures and styles when creating websites
Be able to use website software tools to prepare content for websites.

Be able to publish websites.

Digital Content Creation - Audio and Video

The learner will:
Be able to design a digital publication that incorporates audio and video content (such as
an electronic document, web page, blog, social media page, and online survey).
Be able to input audio and video material elements within a rich media publication design.
Be able to format and produce a rich media digital publication.

Internet Broadcasting

The learner will:
Understand the principles of internet broadcasting.
Be able to plan for internet broadcasting.
Be able to produce an internet broadcast.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

Entry is by tutor approval only. Students should have a good knowledge of ICT systems and/or already work within a related role or industry. Having some prior experience of IT would be useful. Learners will need a good standard of literacy and numeracy prior to considering this course. You will need a minimum of Level 1 in both due to the written nature of some of the assignments.

Attendance Requirements

Attendance is mandatory for this course, you are expected to attend every session.

Assessment Methods

Through Practical work and written reports.

Further Study Options

Progression to Web Technologies courses at level 3, the CIW or Level 3 Access to Digital Marketing and Social Media or higher level Digital Marketing courses. Working within a Junior role in social media, digital marketing or content creation.
