The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work in an unsupervised capacity with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.

The course is delivered over two academic years and you have to be working in an early years setting for a minimum of 350 hours throughout that time withchildren from birth to 5 years.

This course runs on a Thursday but there is one Saturday per term - 9.30 - 14:30

Course Content

The course is made up of 23 units based on the following themes:
Health and well-being Legislation, frameworks and professional practice Play, development and learning for school readiness

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

You must have either Functional Skills at level 2 or GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above.
You must be employed for at least 350 hours per academic year and be able to plan for, observe and assess children in your workplace.
You must demonstrate that you can work in an unsupervised capacity for the purposes of your assessments.
You will be asked to attend an interview and complete a screening test in the Learning Resource Centre.
You must be able to be observed working with children across the age range. This may mean that in addition to your normal working environment you
may need to spend time in a setting with younger or older children, depending on the age range you currently work with.

First Class Requirements

you should bring a ring binder, black pen, notebook and an A4 book in which to keep your Reflective Diary

Assessment Methods

The main evidence for your qualification will come from direct observation of you by an asssessor, in your workplace. You will also produce assignments, carry out a Longitudinal Study of a child and maintain a weekly Reflective Diary.

Further Study Options

You may progress from this course to a work-based Foundation Degree and BA (Hons) in Early Years at university and ultimately to either Early Years Professional Status or Qualified Teacher Status.
