Flavours of the Himalayas - Cookery Course

Himalayan food is a diverse and unique cuisine which covers all ends of the Himalayan borders. There are many classic dishes from plain to spicy dishes, vegetarian curries to delicious non vegetarian dishes. These dishes are commonly found in countries like Tibet, Nepal, India, Bhutan and many more. They are easily available in every fast food, restaurant or in the roadside allies.

This course covers exciting recipes and a way to master simple Himalayan dishes with ease, whether you are eating out or cooking it at home. You will learn to make a selection of authentic dishes using variety of preparation technique.

Course Content

In this course you will learn to make traditional, delicious, and nutritious dishes found in the foothills of the Himalayas.

?? Daal Bhat - traditional Nepali meal of rice and lentils served a daily basis.

?? Momo - steamed flour dumplings stuffed with various fillings of vegetables and meat -

traditional Tibetan dish.

?? Thukpa - boiled noodles, mixed with vegetable and topped with meat items of choice.

?? Aloo Ko achar and Roti - Nepalese potato salad and flatbread.

?? Shafale and achar - Tibetan meat bread and spicy salsa.

?? Aloo Dum - Potato dish

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on the start date of the course.

Basic cookery skills but most importantly a love of cooking and preparing food.

Remote Learning:
Some of our courses are now delivered through remote learning, including video conferencing (using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype) and email contact with your tutor.

If your course is indicated as an ONLINE COURSE, you will need either a PC (with a camera and microphone), laptop, tablet, smartphone and access to the internet to be able to join the lessons. Lessons will run at the published time – so be ready and set up to join in.
