Flavours of Vietnam - Cookery Course

This hands-on cookery course is ideal for all students with a passion for food, who love to experience different flavours, culture and culinary delights. Come and enjoy this delicious travel through the flavours of Vietnam with Wu Xing, its 5 elements tradition, the sweet, sour, salty, bitter and spicy which incorporate the Chinese culture and French influences.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on the start date of the course.

Basic cookery skills but most important love for cooking and preparing food.

First Class Requirements

You will be advised on what to bring to class at least at least one week before the class, for the duration of the course.

Attendance Requirements

To get the best from the course, a good attendance is recommended, so you will not miss important information.

Assessment Methods

The tutor will work, where possible, on a one to one basis to assess your cooking skills and give advice on how to improve. You will have an Individual learning plan to record your progress and the tutor will give you a feedback on your progress. You will be taught by clear demonstrations in the group and one to one teaching.

Additional Information

As a result of the government’s closure of schools and colleges, some of our courses will be delivered through remote learning including video conferencing, (using Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and email contact with your tutor.

If your course is indicated as an ONLINE COURSE, you will need either a PC (with a camera and microphone), laptop, tablet, smartphone and access to the internet to be able to join the lessons. Lessons will run at the published time – so be ready and set up to join in.

You will need to purchase the ingredients for each session and bring an apron, tea towel and container/s to take the food home. For some of the dishes you may need to bring appropriate pans or dishes in which to cook them, as advised by the tutor. You will need a pen for taking notes. Please note that some of the cookery activities will require working in pairs, sharing equipment, setting up and clearing the work area and equipment independently.
