Floristry Techniques - All levels

This is an inspiring, fun and practical course where you will discover and use a range of the latest skills and techniques used in floristry to create designs for weddings, gifts, events and more.

Course Content

By the end of the course you will:

• Understand the use of basic tools for floristry
• Demonstrate conditioning and care for a range flowers and foliage
• Demonstrate some of the latest techniques used in floristry
• Understand some buying and ordering of flowers and foliage
• Practice health and safety procedures used in floristry
• Begin a portfolio of work
• Construct floral designs.

During the practical workshop you can reproduce or apply your own interpretation of the design demonstrated by the tutor.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on the start date of the course.

The course is open to beginners who have an interest in flowers and flower arranging or those with some experience in flower arranging.

Attendance Requirements

Regular attendance will help you gain maximum benefit from the course.

Assessment Methods

There is no formal assessment, however you will receive regular feedback from your tutor and peers.

Further Study Options

You might like to join further advanced floristry courses or join specialist short courses during term time holidays.

Additional Information

This specialist course has been identified to run with fewer numbers due to either the student demand for the course and subject area or the need for increased one to one tuition. This course will be able to run with only six learners and will have a maximum of 10 in the class.

Please note that you will be expected to purchase your own floristry materials each week to be able to create your own floral arrangements in your preferred style. Depending on your personal budget and preferred supplier and taste, you can expect to spend between £20 - 45 per week on flowers, foliage and materials.

Remote Learning:
Some of our courses are now delivered through remote learning, including video conferencing (using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype) and email contact with your tutor.

If your course is indicated as an ONLINE COURSE, you will need either a PC (with a camera and microphone), laptop, tablet, smartphone and access to the internet to be able to join the lessons. Lessons will run at the published time – so be ready and set up to join in.
