You need to have completed the corresponding 'Getting Ready For' course before enrolling onto this course.
Established Maths skills at Level 2 on the BKSB initial assessment as a minimum.
Language skills corresponding to Level 2 as a minimum, evidenced through initial screening or a GCSE English grade C/Grade 4/Functional Skills Level 2 English or above (evidence required).
The assessment is three exam papers held on nationally set days in May/June. By enrolling on this course, you can develop your problem-solving, quantitative reasoning, communication, and time management skills. Mathematical knowledge is valuable in many jobs.
If you have already achieved GCSE Maths grade C/4 or higher then maths courses will not be free for you and you will need to pay a fee, please discuss this with college staff when you come to enrol.
You will need to purchase the textbook: AQA GCSE Maths Foundation Tier Student Book published by Collins. You'll also need a standard Geometry Set, a 30 cm Ruler, an A4 writing pad, a ring-binder or folders, pencils, a rubber, and a highlighting pen. A Scientific calculator (Casio FX series, approx. £10.00) is also required. A hardship fund is available for learners who struggle to pay for equipment. Please bring your textbook and writing materials to every class.
This course includes four Saturday sessions.
