This 8 week Greek course introduces the foundations of Modern Greek, with a strong focus on the language you’ll need when travelling in Greece. The emphasis is on practical communication, helping you feel more confident and independent during your holiday.
You will begin by learning the Greek alphabet, along with pronunciation and essential reading skills. This will enable you to recognise common signs, menus, place names and basic written information you are likely to encounter while travelling.
Key language topics include:
-Greeting people politely and introducing yourself
-Asking for help and making simple requests
-Numbers, dates and telling the time
-Ordering food and drinks in cafés and tavernas
-Booking accommodation and checking in at hotels
-Shopping and handling simple transactions
-Asking for and understanding directions
-Using public transport, taxis and airports
-Managing everyday travel situations with confidence
You will also learn how to express likes and preferences and take part in basic social exchanges, helping you connect more easily with local people.
Grammar is introduced gently and clearly, focusing only on what is useful for communication. This includes simple sentence structures, common verbs in the present tense, essential nouns and articles, and frequently used adjectives. There is no pressure to memorise complex rules.
Speaking and listening skills are developed through:

-Role-play scenarios
-Pair and small group activities
-Practical simulations, such as ordering meals, checking into accommodation, or asking for directions
Cultural awareness is an important part of the course. You will explore aspects of Greek culture and everyday life, including food traditions, polite behaviour, gestures, customs and social etiquette. This helps you feel more comfortable and culturally aware while travelling.
The teaching approach is friendly, supportive and interactive, designed to encourage participation and enjoyment. There are no formal exams, making this an ideal leisure course for adult learners who want to learn at a relaxed pace.

-You must be 19 or over on the start date of the course.
