Why Study This Course?
This course is designed to give an introduction to modelling and animation using 3D Studio Max. This industry-standard program is used in computer gaming, architectural visualisation, advertising and in films such as ‘Toy Story’ & ‘Lord of the Rings’.
3DS Max is an extremely powerful tool which can be daunting for the beginner. However, because this course is structured in a clear and systematic way students easily gain a firm understanding of the basics.
The course is designed as self-contained unit for those interested in acquiring essential skills in 3DS Max, but can be followed by the Advanced and then the Animation courses in terms 2 & 3 respectively for those aspiring to a more professional level.
Students completing all three courses will be eligible to qualify for the 3D Studio Max Modelling & Animation Award.
There will also be the opportunity for individual tutorials and advice to help you develop your career portfolio.
You will learn through practical demonstration, formal instruction and individual tuition. Your progress will be assessed through coursework, observation and in-class tests.

" Interface, 3D space and coordinates
" Modelling objects & scenes
" Applying colour, textures & maps.
" Lighting
" Rendering: (Output of pictures and movies.)
" Cameras
" Animation
Although this course requires only basic computer knowledge, it is suitable for novices as well as professionals such as architects, designers, mulitmedia artists, engineers and students seeking to improve their career prospects and skills base.
Previous programme experience is not necessary, but enthusiasm for exploring new techniques and processes and genuine commitment to learning are vital.
