Want a career in interior design? This course is aimed at those new, or relatively new, to interior design who ultimately want to progress on to a career in interiors or simply explore and develop a personal interest. Level 2 specialist courses are designed to give adult learners the knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare them for employment or further study at level 3 or 4.

Course Content

This is a project-based course structured around four units, two formative and two specialist. Thecombined units will give you the opportunity to learn the specialist skills associated with Interior design. In response to the given design briefs you will research and respond through drawings, visuals, 3D models, and technical drawings using scale drawing techniques and exploring spatial design.
You will develop a portfolio which shows a range of interior design projects and skills. As the course progresses you will explore historical and cultural influences and visit galleries and museums. You will be encouraged to experiment with traditonal and non-traditional materials and to analyse your design ideas.

Tutor approval is required for this course.

Assessment Methods

The course is assessed through a range of methods including portfolio and sketch book work as well as through blogs reports and presentations. There are deadlines for assignments throughout the course which you will need to meet to continue and gain the qualification.

Further Study Options

You could progress to the one-year BTEC Pearson Level 3 Interior Design, a L3 Foundation in Access to Art & Design or to L3 Access to Creative and Digital Media.
