Why Study This Course?
This course is designed to follow on from the 3D Studio Max Introduction course and gives a more in-depth look at 3DS Max. You will need to have completed the 3D Studio Max Introduction course or have an equivalent level of knowledge and experience of 3D Studio Max.
3DS Max is an extremely powerful industry-standard program used computer gaming, architectural visualisation, advertising, and in films such as ‘Toy Story’ & ‘Lord of the Rings’.
In this course you will learn: more advanced modelling techniques, such as polygon modelling and simplification techniques; more advanced texture mapping, lighting and rendering techniques; more in-depth animation techniques; and look at Max Script & Net Rendering. There will be exercises in architectural visualisation, interiors, character modelling and animation, and help for those seeking to improve their career prospects and skills base. Having completed this course, students can choose to progress to the 3D Studio Max Animation & Modelling Certificate. There will also be the opportunity for individual tutorials and advice to help you develop your career portfolio.

You will learn through practical demonstration, exercises, formal instruction and individual tuition. Your progress will be assessed through coursework, observation and in-class tests. Subjects covered include:
• Advanced modelling techniques, polygon modelling objects & scenes
• More textures & maps
• Advanced lighting
• Exercises/ & personal project development
• Rendering & Net Rendering (stereo imaging)
• Cameras
• Animation
• Introduction to Max Script
You will need to have completed the 3D Studio Max Introduction course or have an equivalent level of knowledge and experience of 3D Studio Max.
Learners will be assessed informally as they progress through the course.
