This course focuses on figurative clay sculpting from a life model. You will:
Combine measurement-based techniques with intuitive, expressive approaches.
Create studies from set poses.
Learn to hollow, fire, and refine your sculptures.
Explore glazes and firings for in-depth experimentation.
Develop your sculpting skills and artistic expression.
This course covers:
Sculpting Techniques: Working with various clays and modelling tools.
Finishing Techniques: Exploring different glazes and surface treatments.
Instructional Methods: Whole class presentation, demonstration, and individual tuition.
Beginner Guidance: Step-by-step guidance for beginners.
Advanced Development: Input to help experienced sculptors develop their practice.
Artistic Inspiration: Looking at the work of traditional and contemporary artists.
Sculptural Anatomy: Covering sculptural anatomy to understand observed forms.
Advanced Clay Work: Exploring ways of working with clay studies as a basis for further artistic development (double-session version).

What are the entry reqs
Your progress will be assessed through Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) and regular discussions with your tutor. You'll track your practice through written notes and tutor feedback, gauging your progression and personal development throughout the course.
There is an additional cost of approximately £50 - £100 for materials on this course.
No food or drink is allowed in the studio; a hub area is available for snacks and drinks.
