Introduction to Sewing & Clothesmaking

Why Study This Course?

Learn the essentials of machine sewing in this beginner-friendly course. You’ll gain
confidence threading a machine, winding a bobbin, and troubleshooting common stitch
errors while practicing key techniques producing straight seams, zig-zag finishes, and
zipper insertion. Alongside developing practical sewing skills, you’ll get familiar with
essential pattern terminology and fabric choices, learning how to read symbols on
commercial patterns and select suitable materials per project. By the end of the course,
you’ll complete 1-2 simple sewing projects – such as a tote bag, cushion cover, ½ scale
skirt or zipper bag – leaving with a strong foundation of skills to continue on your sewing
journey.
