Italian - Beginners Stage 2

As your study of the language progresses from Beginners Stage 1, you will continue to learn about sentence structure and develop your spoken and written Italian with basic verb conjugations, connectives and negative forms. This course focuses on developing your communication skills in order to converse with a native speaker and convey a range of personal information, as well as express likes and dislikes, agreement and disagreement. You will also discover the cultural heritage of the language.

Course Content

Regular attendance is advisable to develop language skills and ensure maximum progress.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

Completion of Beginners Stage 1 or equivalent (30 hours of study). This course is suitable if you have studied Italian for a short time in the past and would like to revisit the basics of the language.

First Class Requirements

In your first lesson, the tutor will give you details of the textbook you will require.

Attendance Requirements

Our courses follow a communicative approach which will give you the skills to communicate effectively in Italian in everyday situations, such as ordering food and drinks, asking for directions, booking a holiday and travelling. Classroom activities in pairs and groups will help you acquire speaking and listening skills and the basic rules of pronunciation. You will also develop your reading and writing skills. You will start building on your grammar and sentence structure with more connectives, verb forms and ways to express opinions.

Assessment Methods

Learners will discuss their goals with the tutor who will assess their progress during the course through in-class observation and a range of activities. You will record and reflect on your progress in your Personal Learning Plan (PLP).
