-Is portfolio based in terms of assessment with no formal exams

The course content will include
The role and responsibilities of a community interpreter
Understanding different community interpreting settings (e.g. health, education, public services)
Basic interpreting skills and techniques
Communication skills
Professional standards, confidentiality and ethical practice
Cultural awareness and working with diverse communities
Boundaries of the interpreter role

English to at least Level 1 standard (spoken and written)
Ability to communicate fluently in at least one additional language
