This course covers:
Preparing to Work as a Home-Based Childcarer: Mandatory unit covering essential knowledge and skills.
Optional Units: A minimum of 1 credit from a selection of units (TBC) to tailor your learning.
You will:

You must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
You need Level 2 English skills. Ideally, you'll have GCSE or Functional Skills Level 2 English. It may be possible to study GCSE or Functional Skills alongside this course.
Your tutor will assess your progress throughout the course. Upon completion, you can progress to Level 3 Early Years Educator qualifications or other relevant Level 3 qualifications in early years and childcare. This qualification prepares you to work as registered childminders, childminding assistants, nannies, au pairs, or other childcarers in home-based settings. You might also be interested in courses like Understanding Mental Health in the Early Years or Paediatric First Aid to enhance your knowledge and CV.
We expect you to attend weekly class-based sessions and actively participate in learning activities. Your attendance and punctuality are important and will be considered when you apply for further courses, such as the Level 3 Early Years Diploma or Supporting Teaching and Learning Diplomas.
