Why Study This Course?
The Office Skills 365 – Level 2 Certificate (Back to Work) course is designed to equip learners with essential IT user skills, helping them build confidence and competence in using modern office software. This course uses the Microsoft 365 suite and equips learners with confidence and proficiency in essential office software applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and productivity tools.
On successful completion, learners will achieve the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in IT User Skills (ITQ) Qualification. The course is structured around four key units, which focus on a specific application or skill area, ensuring learners develop a well-rounded, job-ready digital skillset.
You will learn how to:
Create professional documents and presentations, improve productivity by integrating Microsoft Office tools, and use Excel functions to automate tasks efficiently.
Please note that this is not a beginner-level course. Each module is designed to promote best practice and to help learners critically evaluate the use of IT in the workplace, ensuring that their working methods are both effective and efficient.
Course Units:
Improving Productivity Using IT:
This unit is designed to help you work more effectively by planning and reviewing the way you use IT in different tasks.
Skills include:
Planning IT-based solutions for workplace tasks
Choosing the most appropriate software for different jobs
Evaluating outcomes against objectives and improving efficiency
Identifying ways to streamline tasks using IT tools
Following legal, ethical, and secure working practices
Presentation Software:
This unit develops the ability to create engaging presentations and deliver effective slide shows. using Microsoft PowerPoint.
Skills include:
Structuring a presentation to suit different audiences and purposes
Designing clear, visually appealing slides using templates and themes
Using animations, transitions, and multimedia effectively
Incorporating charts, graphics, and images to convey information
Delivering presentations with confidence using speaker notes and timing features
Spreadsheet Software:
This unit introduces learners to spreadsheet functionality to manage data and solve problems using Microsoft Excel. It focuses on using data efficiently and accurately.
Skills include:
Entering, editing, and formatting data
Creating and using formulas and functions for calculations
Producing charts and graphs for visual data presentation
Sorting and filtering information to analyse data
Preparing spreadsheets for sharing or printing professionally
Word Processing Software:
This unit builds strong document-creation skills using Microsoft Word. Learners will develop the ability to produce a range of business and personal documents.
Skills include:
Formatting documents with consistent structure and style
Using tables, bullet points, and headings to improve readability
Inserting and formatting images, text boxes, and pages
Applying styles and templates for efficiency and brand consistency to create professional documents such as CVs, letters, and reports
Using spelling, grammar, and review tools to ensure accuracy

Safety Information:
We want to keep you safe while you are at RHACC and as such all on-site classes will have additional hygiene procedures in place, as per government guidelines. Please note that if guidance changes, we may need to make changes to your course, such as reducing numbers attending onsite, or in the event of lockdown, postponing or moving the course online. To be eligible for this course, you must be aged 19 or over as of 31st August prior to the course start date.
Important Eligibility Notes:
Learners currently enrolled on another qualification course will not be accepted, as this course is intensive and will require additional learning and practice outside of classroom hours. You must be fully committed to attending all sessions and completing work independently.
Prior Knowledge and Skills:
Entry is subject to tutor approval, following an initial assessment and interview.
To join this course, you should:
Have previous experience with IT or office-based work, or have completed a Level 1 Office Skills Certificate (or equivalent basic course)
Be confident using a computer, including:
-Use a keyboard, mouse, and basic computer programs with confidence
-Open, save, and organise files in folders
-Send and read emails, including opening and attaching files
-Understand basic Excel functions, such as using formulas and formatting cells
-Use Word processing software to format text, insert images, and adjust page layout
-Have a minimum Level 1 in English and Maths, as the course involves written assignments and problem-solving tasks
We welcome learners with practical experience in office environments, even if you haven?t studied formally before. All applicants will attend a screening session to ensure the course matches their needs and starting point.
Tutor Approval: Required:
All learners must attend an interview and screening session before being accepted on the course.
To achieve the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in IT User Skills (ITQ), learners must complete a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates their skills and understanding of each unit. This portfolio is developed through a series of practical, class-based tasks and assignments, designed to reflect real-world workplace scenarios.
Assessment is carried out continuously throughout the course, with learners receiving ongoing feedback and guidance from the tutor. This helps ensure that each learner is progressing steadily and has the opportunity to revisit and improve their work as needed. There is a need to complete coursework for assignments throughout the course. You will need class time and homework time to complete written and practical assignments.
Once complete, the portfolio is formally assessed by the course tutor to ensure all learning outcomes have been met. The final portfolio is then submitted for review by an external moderator from NCFE, who verifies the quality and consistency of assessment before the qualification is officially awarded.
Learners must complete all required evidence to a satisfactory standard to achieve the full certificate.
