Why Study This Course:
Would you like to improve your sketching skills and confidence drawing and painting the world around you? This course builds the skills you need with an experienced artist tutor whilst exploring the local area. You’ll learn techniques of drawing and painting suitable for sketching on the go, with additional links and resources sent to you to support your progress.
You will:
-Learn essential sketching techniques.
-Build confidence interpreting the world around you through drawing and painting.
-Gain hands-on practice and personalized guidance.
-Learn techniques such as ink drawing, mixed media and watercolour sketching.
-Create a varied sketchbook of subjects to spur your creativity.
This course covers:
-Drawing exercises outside: developing your skills and exploring the local area on foot.
-Drawing people, animals and nature: developing character and interest in your sketchbook
-Drawing the landscape: guidance and exercises which improve understanding of depth of field and perspective
-Exploring materials: looking at a range of methods and materials beyond pencil drawing, experimenting with colour and line
-Support: inspiring examples, additional techniques sent to you each week.
You will:

-Create a varied sketchbook of subjects to spur your creativity.
-You must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
-Some prior knowledge of art materials, tools and techniques is required to make this a more beneficial experience.
Please note this class is not classroom based, and will require learners to walk unaided to locations around the local area.
Each session will conclude with informal, supportive group critiques, where you can share your work and receive constructive feedback. Your tutor will provide individual verbal feedback as you work on projects. Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) will be developed to guide your progress, tailored to your specific goals and needs.
You will need your own sketchbook and drawing materials, which could include ink fineliners and pens, travel watercolour set and brush. Your tutor will advise you of any additional course materials.
