Skills for Employment

This course is for SEND learners only

Why Study This Course?

Skills for Employment is an accredited course designed for adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who are ready to develop the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed for future employment, volunteering, or further learning. Learners will work towards the LASER Entry Level 3 Introductory Award in Learning, Employability and Progression, a portfolio-based qualification that recognises personal achievement and practical employability skills.
The course focuses on developing independence, communication, confidence, and workplace readiness through practical and supportive learning activities. Learners will study units including Accessing Public Transport, Assertiveness and Decision-Making Skills, and Career Planning and Making Applications, helping them prepare for the next steps towards employment and independent living.
Alongside the qualification, learners will also study Functional Skills English and Functional Skills Maths at Entry Level 1, 2, or 3, based on their individual starting points identified through initial assessments using Century. This personalised approach ensures learners develop essential literacy and numeracy skills that support both everyday life and future employment opportunities.
