Stress and Stress Management Techniques Award Level 1 (Hillcroft Campus, Surbiton)

This Award course is for those who want to understand more about stress and how to manage stress within either their personal and/or professional life. The course aims to help learners recognise the symptoms of stress, identify possible causes of stress, understand the benefits of relaxation and how to practice relaxation techniques and other coping strategies. The course will be of interest to professionals and volunteers whose everyday role includes working with and supporting people, for example within healthcare, educational or voluntary settings.

Course Content

There are 5 learning outcomes:
At the end of this course you will...

be able to recognise the symptoms of stress
know about the possible causes of stress
know about the benefits of using relaxation as a strategy
know about coping strategies
be able to practise different relaxation techniques

Content delivery will be via class-based activities, such as:
Tutor talk/presentation
Videos
Question and Answer
Group discussion
Group and pair work
Case Studies
Practical relaxation techniques
In addition to the course outcomes, through a Personal Learning Plan (PLP), you will create and track progress towards your personal learning targets.

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

Assessment Methods

You will create a portfolio of evidence and your work will be assessed by your tutor.
There is no external assessment (exam) for this course.

Additional Information

The course will be delivered onsite at our Hillcroft site in Surbiton (site location is subject to change, where necessary).
In the event of a local or national lockdown, the course would be delivered [online]. As such, you will need access to a computer with a camera and microphone
You will be expected to attend each session with good punctuality
On successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate

Remote Learning:
Some of our courses are now delivered through remote learning, including video conferencing (using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype) and email contact with your tutor.

If your course is indicated as an ONLINE COURSE, you will need either a PC (with a camera and microphone), laptop, tablet, smartphone and access to the internet to be able to join the lessons. Lessons will run at the published time – so be ready and set up to join in.
