Taster - Access to Humanities

Access courses are designed to give adult learners the necessary study skills and subject knowledge to go on to a Degree at a University. This course will give you a day in the life of an Access student.

Course Content

During the day, you will have a varied experience of tutors, techniques and styles of learning as well as different subject areas. You will integrate into the classes with this year's Access to Humanities students, and will be asked to participate as much as possible in the days proceedings.

Entry Requirements

You will have an interest in applying for the Access to Humanities Course. For the Access course itself, you will be required to have GCSE English and Maths - or equivalent (eg Skills for Life level 2 in literacy and numeracy ), as you will be required to write fluently in English and you should be prepared to read and study at home. You should also be competent with using Microsoft word and the internet. Access courses are designed for 19 plus learners on 31st Aug each year.

As a result of the government’s closure of schools and colleges, some of our courses will be delivered through remote learning including video conferencing, (using Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and email contact with your tutor.

If your course is indicated as an ONLINE COURSE, you will need either a PC (with a camera and microphone), laptop, tablet, smartphone and access to the internet to be able to join the lessons. Lessons will run at the published time – so be ready and set up to join in.

We hope you will enjoy this new approach to learning – many of our learners have commented on how they are enjoying the classes and have improved their IT and digital skills in the process.
