Thai Cookery

This course will guide to produce a variety of delicious Thai dishes suitable for starters, main course, and desserts. You will gain confidence to make these mouth-watering dishes outside the teaching kitchen for friends and family, to entertain or create your own business.

Course Content

You will learn to make a variety of delicious Thai dishes using meat, fish, vegetable, and sweet recipes.
The course will cover different methods of cooking, and will include poaching, grilling, sautéing, and baking. You will learn about the oven temperatures and timing when baking to get the best results. You will learn decorating and presentation skills suitable for your dishes. You will learn about the tasty spices used to create the authentic Thai flavours. You will learn some basic hygiene and health and safety principles.

You will need to purchase the ingredients for each session (except the first session) and bring an apron, tea towel and container/s to take the food home. For some of the dishes you may need to bring appropriate pans or dishes in which to cook them, as advised by the tutor.

Entry Requirements

This course is for anyone with an interest in learning or perfecting their list of Thai recipes and suitable for beginners to intermediate level. You will need to be able to follow the recipe sheets in class. You will have an Individual learning plan to record your progress and the tutor will give you a feedback on your progress. You will be taught by clear demonstrations in the group and one to one teaching, to ensure your success.

Assessment Methods

You do not have to bring anything to the first class. There will be a demonstration by the tutor and a tasting session. If you wish to make notes, you could bring a notepad and pen. You will be advised on what to bring to class at least a week before, for the duration of the course.

To get the best from the course, a good attendance is recommended, so you do not miss any teaching.

Baking - Cakes 2, Baking -Pastries 1 & 2, Baking- Bread and Baking -Biscuits, Delicious Desserts, Fish Cookery, Vegetarian Cookery, International Cookery: Thai, French, Chinese, Caribbean, and Christmas workshops are available and will increase your range of cookery skills.
