The alarming increase in the number of children and young people presenting with mental health concerns has been well-documented.

This Level 2 certificate course is for those interested in gaining greater knowledge and awareness of the mental health concerns that many children and young people are currently experiencing.

On this course you will:

Learn about children and young people s mental health in context

Explore factors which may affect children and young people s mental health

Develop your awareness of children and young people s mental health concerns and the impact of these concerns

Learn how to support children and young people with mental health concerns

Course Content

The course will provide you with the following:

An understanding of children and young people?s mental health in context

An understanding of factors which may affect children and young people?s mental health

An understanding of children and young people?s mental health concerns

An understanding of the impact of children and young people?s mental health concerns

An understanding of how to support children and young people with mental health concerns

Learning activities will include:

Tutor presentations

Pair and group tasks

Individual learning tasks

Videos / podcasts

Learning activities may include role-play

The sharing of personal experiences is encouraged when led by the tutor

Full participation in class-based learning activities will be expected

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

You must have a minimum of Level 1 English and I.T skills (Level 2 English skills desirable).

You will be required to complete a course application form and attend a short interview for approval for the course. The link to the application form will be provided when you apply online and book an interview.

Attendance Requirements

This is an on-site, classroom-based course and your commitment to the course is essential. You must commit to attending all sessions.

Assessment Methods

Via an online learning platform, you will create a portfolio of evidence; your work will be assessed by your tutor. There is no exam for this course.

Assessment will be made via:
Written tasks
Tutor observation
Self-Reflection Tasks

In addition to your formal assignments, through the creation of a Personal Learning Plan, you will set your own individual learning targets which will be reviewed during and at the end of the course.
