Upholstery - Intensive
C02824

The five-day intensives are suitable for all levels of upholstery skills, from beginners to those with some experience. Both traditional and modern techniques are taught, depending on your project. Upholstery is very time consuming, so if you bring a large project, please keep in mind that it may take longer than 5 days.

You provide the furniture, fabric and trimmings, and we provide the materials. Please wear sensible clothes and shoes, upholstery is quite a dusty job so dont wear your finest.

The course takes place during holiday times so you may want to bring a flask etc as the cafe is generally closed.

Course Content

Over the duration of the course you will learn how to:

Use hand and some power tools safely.

Develop an understanding of some of the materials used in modern and traditional upholstery, what the differences are and the timeline of when they were introduced.

How to strip a piece of furniture in the right order, understanding what can be kept and restored, and what can be replaced.

By the end of the course you will have completed a piece of furniture (depending on its size, and what needs to be done).
