Website Design & Creation - Intermediate (Intensive)

This course is designed to follow on from the Introduction course and builds on the skills learned on that course. You will continue to use web design packages used to create commercial websites.

Course Content

This intensive course progresses from the Introduction course. You will develop your webpage production skills further with the topics covered below:

Designing websites with mobile devices in mind
Using the HTML div tag and advanced CSS to structure your web pages
Adding a CSS navigation bar
Using Dreamweaver templates and nested templates
Using JQuery to add interactivity (Slide show)
Integrating Web graphics with Photoshop
HTML5 using the new media elements
HTML5 - Using Geolocation

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on the start date of the course.

You must have completed the Website Design & Creation Introduction course or have equivalent knowledge of what has been covered. (Please see the course outline for the Introduction course)
You should be computer literate and have experience of using the Internet. Familiarity with file management is essential (you must be able to create a folder and navigate through files and folders) .

First Class Requirements

Notepad, pen & folder for notes and handouts.
Memory stick.

Attendance Requirements

If it is unavoidable that you miss a class you must notify the tutor at the earliest time. The tutor will endeavour to help you make up for the lost time, but the responsibility for this is with the student.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is ongoing. You will complete classroom exercises which will inform you and the tutor of your progress.
The college uses a virtual learning environment (Moodle) which allows enrolled students to access the training materials remotely via the student intranet and an internet connection.
