Write a Sketch in One Day

You dont need an Oxbridge degree to write comedy. This course is suitable for anyone who has an itch to write comedy - those with no experience of comedy writing and those who want to reengage their skills. It will also appeal to creative writers who want to expand their range into humour or writing scripts.
In this one-day course you will learn some vital techniques:
mind mapping ideas;
turning the raw material into comedy nuggets;
and structuring it into a three-minute piece.
On the way you will study some classic clips. By the end of the day you will have written your own three minute sketch.

Ending the sketch.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on the start date of the course.

Assessment Methods

There is no formal assessment but you will practice your learning through exercises and discussions.

Remote Learning:
Some of our courses are now delivered through remote learning, including video conferencing (using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype) and email contact with your tutor.

If your course is indicated as an ONLINE COURSE, you will need either a PC (with a camera and microphone), laptop, tablet, smartphone and access to the internet to be able to join the lessons. Lessons will run at the published time – so be ready and set up to join in.
