Clothesmaking - Intermediate

Our fun, practical course will ensure you become confident making garments to fit. You will reach a higher level of competence using commercial patterns, plus choosing fabrics and styles that compliment you.

You can work on the class project of a garment but also have the opportunity to choose your own pattern to sew. Alternately you may wish to learn skills necessary to up cycle or repurpose a garment or simply mend or refit a well loved garment.

Clothesmaking - Intermediate/Advanced

On this course you will sew a dress from a pattern using fine or luxury fabric such as silk. You?ll learn how to cut, sew and work neatly. Suitable for those with sewing experience.

Clothesmaking for Beginners

This Course is a 6-week block of 3 hour lessons for beginners new to clothes making. You will be shown how to thread up and use the sewing machine and work on the group projects in each course.
There are 2 different 6 week courses available each term -

Embroidery for Fashion or Interiors

Hand embroidery is a wonderful way to relax whilst creating beautiful outcomes, and nothing is more satisfying and time-saving than digital embroidery. On this course you will learn how to do both. You will be encouraged to think about uses and applications of embroidery then, in a one to one consultation with your tutor, you will decide on a personal project to work on for the duration of your course.

You will be shown how to use unusual techniques, layer up fabrics, think about placement and generally explore what is possible with this brilliant, traditional craft.

Exploring Surface Design for Textiles -- Beginners

On this course you will explore the use of line, colour and texture when developing textile/ surface design ideas.

You will generate designs through the use of research, imaginative drawings and mixed media design approaches to create experimental textile designs.
Experimental works will be developed and resolved as finished textile ideas, with the potential applications towards fashion, interiors or for portfolio uses.

The course is designed to explore, inspire and challenge your approach to textile/ surface design in a creative and safe environment.

Making, mending and upcycling clothes
