Join us for an engaging talk with acclaimed author and journalist Sandra Hempel as she introduces her latest book, Controlling Women. This powerful work paints a vivid picture of a nation in flux, highlighting the groundbreaking achievements—and internal struggles—of the pioneering women who shaped Britain's first female police force. Their story is one of resilience, political defiance, and the ongoing pursuit of justice for women.
About the Author
Sandra Hempel is an award-winning writer and former journalist for The Times, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, and other leading publications. She is also the author of The Medical Detective, a celebrated historical work, and The Inheritor’s Powder, a gripping Victorian-era true crime story that was featured as a BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week.
The talk is an open event, free to attend, and will be held in the Dance Studio on the Parkshot Campus.
