Join us on Tuesday 7th December 2021  from 6PM for an evening of culture to promote new emerging Black British talent.

18:00 - 19:00 - A TalkThe Legacy of Black Artist in Britain by former RHACC student Kim Sheldon will explore how the Windrush generation contributed to the British Art Scene. Kim works in the V&A Learning and Events Department and is an official African and Caribbean Heritage Guide at the museum. Her written work is inspired by key events that took place in the 17th-19th century, specifically those concerned with the Black narrative.

19:30 - 20:30 - A New Play - “The Windrush Secret” written and performed by Rodreguez King-Dorset.

Synopsis -A young white 'England for the English' Far-Right party leader, a black Caribbean diplomat and an Oxford educated Home Office official are giving speeches on the same day, at different times, in separate locations, about the Caribbean ‘ Windrush Scandal’.  This play was originally commissioned by the Royal Maritime Museum in 2021. (Not suitable for anyone under 13). 

We welcome King-Dorset back to RHACC, following his 2018 photographic exhibition about Nelson Mandela.

A Photographic Exhibition  - RHACC staff member Caleb Effiong, also known as “C note” is a young Black-British poet, Photographer and producer raised in London.  Inspired by Vogue, Caleb turns portraits of his clients into magazine style pictures. Caleb also started writing Poetry over lockdown after listening to speeches from the likes of Martin Luther King and he writes about love, Life and things that inspire him!
