Feeling overwhelmed by your job search and how to get noticed? This course is designed to equip you with the tools you need to create a CV that stands out. In this focused session, you'll learn simple yet effective techniques to highlight your strengths and capture the reader's attention. This is one of four sessions in our Preparation for Work cycle, aimed to make your job search more effective and less daunting.

Course Content

This course covers:
Ground rules of organising your accomplishments and portfolio to present yourself in a way that highlights your abilities and experiences
How to write a CV profile that is compelling and meaningful for the intended role
How to present your accomplishments in a way that shows you are the right candidate for a position
The important elements to remember when preparing for an application

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

There are no other formal entry requirements for this course.

First Class Requirements

You are expected to have an A4 writing pad, a ring-binder or folders as well as pencils, a rubber, a ruler and a highlighter pen.

Attendance Requirements

To successfully complete this course, you must commit to 100% attendance and punctuality.

Assessment Methods

This session will begin and end with a self-assessment of your knowledge and skills. You'll receive constructive feedback from peers and the facilitator in a supportive environment, helping you achieve the session's aims.

Further Study Options

Please talk to your tutor about other employability workshops the college has to offer. You may also want to consider the 6- week New Direction employability course that leads to a Level 1 employability qualification.

Additional Information

The workshops are very interactive: during the sessions we will practise writing your CV profile so it will be helpful if you can bring a job description for a role that you might be interested in.
