Are you looking to develop your graphic design skills? This Level 2 qualification introduces you to the world of graphic design, helping you understand its role and application. You'll learn how to research ideas and plan projects to meet graphic design briefs. This course is perfect for individuals seeking employment, freelancers needing design skills, or those planning to pursue higher education in the field.
This course will help to develop your practical skillset in graphic design, as well as your understanding of design theory and the wider creative industries. Content includes:
Generating ideas and recording research in a sketchbook
Researching visual art and applying relevant research techniques
Developing an understanding of graphic design in different contexts
Project planning in line with a brief
Group work and presentations
The development of a variety of practical skills using Adobe software
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
You will need to have enough English to understand instructions with some technical vocabulary.
You will need to provide material that demonstrates techniques learned.
You will need to communicate clearly with the tutor and participate in classroom discussions.
Due to the intensity of this qualification-based course, you must have some prior experience in using graphic design software. You will be required to send across some examples of any work you have made using an Adobe application; this may include Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign.
If you are new to the college, you may be advised to first enrol on an alternative course before committing to a qualification. This is to help fully assess both your commitment and your motivation to complete an accredited course whereby the completion of coursework is required.
Tutor approval is required.
As this is a qualification based course you need to have 100% attendance.
Developing creative and digital media skills is an ongoing process and the exercises are built upon your progress week by week.
This qualification (Level 2 Award in Skills for Professions in the Creative and Digital Media Industries) is gained by producing a portfolio. This portfolio is created from class-based exercises with ongoing feedback provided by the tutor. The tutor assesses your work and the final portfolio is then reviewed by an external moderator to verify the qualification.
Progression to the Graphic Design certificate, Level 3 Access to HE diploma in Creative and Digital Media, or other courses in Digital Media. Please speak to your tutor for further information.
