
This course is a Level 1 course and aims to provide skills in using word processing software and spreadsheet software to produce a professional document that is based around relevant workplace skills. You will cover using IT tools safely, securely as well as efficiently and effectively. This course develops the IT skills needed to move into administration, office or secretarial work.
Microsoft Word – Learn to create, edit, format, and collaborate on professional
documents, including letters.
• Microsoft Excel – Master data entry, formulas, functions, and data analysis tools
such as charts and graphs
• Microsoft PowerPoint – Develop engaging presentations and visual appealing slides
• File Management – Understand file organisation and storage solutions and best
practices for creating a File Management System
• OneDrive – Explore cloud storage and file sharing
• Microsoft Teams – Utilise chat, video conferencing, creating meetings and utilising
shared workspaces to enhance team productivity.
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
You will need to have enough English (at a minimum of Level 1 equivalent) to be able to:
- Understand instructions with some technical vocabulary and provide material that demonstrates techniques learned.
- Communicate clearly with the tutor and participate in classroom discussions
- Use a keyboard and a mouse confidently and be able to browse the internet.
There will be an interview to ensure that the course will meet your needs.

A college certificate of completion is gained by producing a PLP and portfolio which is produced from class based exercises with ongoing feedback provided by the tutor.
