Interested in learning the art of silkscreen printmaking? This introductory course provides a comprehensive overview, guiding you through the process of creating unique prints using paper and photographic stencils with vibrant, water-based acrylic inks. Whether you're a complete beginner or have some artistic experience, this course will equip you with the fundamental skills to explore your creativity and produce stunning silkscreen artwork.
This course covers:
Paper Stencils: Creating prints from simple paper stencils.
Photographic Stencils: Developing photographic stencils for more complex designs.
UV Sensitive Emulsion: Applying a UV sensitive emulsion stencil to a screen.
Multi-Layer Printing: Printing a screen in several layers of ink to achieve coloured images.
Screen Print Design: Designing a basic screen print for fabric or paper.
Studio Safety: Safe working practices in a print studio environment.
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
Anyone with an interest in developing practical printmaking skills.
No prior experience is necessary.

Bring to the first class:
Images that you are interested in working from.
A craft knife, scissors, and masking tape (useful).
A notebook/sketchbook for developing compositions and writing technical notes, and pencils.
The college has a stock of resale paper. (Inks are included in the course fee).
Paper is available to buy in class.
