This course invites learners to respond to Richmonds buildings through expressive drawing and painting. Rather than striving for perfect architectural accuracy, learners will focus on shapes, rhythms, textures, and the emotional presence of buildings. Through surface preparation, collage, layered mark-making, and on-site observation, learners will develop evocative architectural images that capture beauty, character, and a sense of place.
Course aims:
By the end of the course, learners will:
-Respond intuitively to architectural forms and spaces.
-Use shape, tone, and texture to suggest buildings rather than describe them precisely.
-Prepare and manipulate surfaces to enhance expression and depth.
-Capture atmosphere, light, and mood in on-site work.
-Develop a personal, expressive approach to architectural imagery.
