This course covers:
Jazz Standards, Contemporary Tunes and Originals: Explore a diverse range of jazz repertoire.
Reading Music and Playing by Ear: Develop both your sight-reading and aural skills.
Understanding Chords, Scales and Jazz Theory: Gain a deeper understanding of jazz harmony.
Rhythmic Development and Jamming: Improve your timing and improvisational abilities.
Optional Homework: Engage in listening exercises, composition, or solo preparation.
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
You need to be able to read music at least a little.
This course is not suitable for complete beginners.
Regular attendance is required.
You'll receive relaxed and informal feedback, usually through tutor-led class discussions. You'll also get individual feedback from the tutor during the sessions. You may wish to progress to further practical jazz courses at Richmond Jazz School. See the website for more information on these courses.
