Urban and Rural Landscape Painting and Drawing
The course offers an opportunity to explore drawing and painting your environment through building the confidence and skills to draw and paint landscape, urban and rural and all the features of a sense of place. Be it characterful passers by, architectural features, street scenes, vistas, trees and skies.

We will work at local urban sites and landscapes around Richmond and London, weather permitting, allowing you to explore your environment through making location drawings and colour studies which you can develop in the studio to make paintings. Our location sessions will require mobility and we will mainly work with a sketchbook and lightweight paint and drawing materials while out and about. Studio based sessions will help you build skills and confidence, and allow time to work on information gathered in our plain air sessions.
It is essential that, if enrolling onto this course, that you are capable of walking for 20-30 mins unaided as this is an active en plein air inspired course and your willingness to participate in this is a requirement of the course.
During the winter months or during inclement weather some location sessions might be replaced by in studio tuition but we will aim to be outdoors whenever we can. Winter excursions (a minimum of two) may take place in public spaces, i.e. museums or cafes
