Summer School 2020

Summer School

In line with government guidance, we are pleased to be able to run a small number of courses this summer onsite at the Parkshot campus. We have limited the offer to those courses that are not suitable for online teaching which are mainly practical creative courses requiring specialist equipment.

Safety First

We have the safety of our learners and our staff at the forefront of our minds in all our plans to partially re-open, therefore we will ensure social distancing and the highest standards of hygiene are in place. This includes the following:

  1. Access to the college site will be managed through a manned system using different entrances and exits to ensure social distancing is maintained. There will be directional signage as well as staff to direct you appropriately.
  2. Class sizes have halved in most cases, to ensure a minimum space of 2m between workstations.
  3. We have introduced enhanced cleaning throughout the campus in all areas but also on the equipment in classes, workshops and studios.
  4. We have introduced new hygiene stations at key locations around the site and will provide additional sanitizers to allow you to clean your own equipment – before and after use.
  5. You are not required to wear a mask while at college – but you are welcome to do so if you prefer.
  6. There will be signage reminding you and your classmates about the basic rules of hygiene during coronavirus

7.We have updated our Learning Agreement which now requires all learners to agree to not attend the college if they display any of the symptoms of coronavirus, or have been in close contact with someone who has.

Teaching Environment

Our team have been onsite preparing the classrooms, workshops and studios to allow for easy access and free movement around the space while maintaining social distance.

Teachers will use cameras and the classroom white boards for close up demonstrations where possible. We aim to record some lessons so they can also be accessed online.

Refreshments

We will not be opening our café at this stage and therefore recommend you bring your own refreshments with you when attending your class.

Getting to College

The college is located in central Richmond and is accessible to learners by foot, car and bicycle as well as public transport (if necessary). There is car parking at the rear of the campus and bicycle racks onsite.
