
We’re excited to announce that the Center for Public Impact has selected RHACC as a recipient of the Google.org AI Opportunity Fund! With this support, we hope to empower the communities we work with to gain the Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills needed for a successful future. By helping our community access the tools and knowledge to thrive through technological change, we’re making sure everyone benefits from AI’s potential.
The fund will allow us to support those affected by workforce changes following the introduction of AI. With the delivery of courses both onsite and online and funding to support costs related to the course, our community will be able to access training from expert tutors.

- Support Available: Participants will receive guidance throughout the program, including access to mentors and job placement support.
Course Overview
This course provides a practical introduction to the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI). You will explore key concepts, tools, ethical considerations and gain hands-on experience with popular AI applications such as chatbots and image generators.
By the end of the course, you will have the skills and confidence to integrate AI into your personal and professional life by achieving the following learning outcomes:
- Understand key AI concepts and ethical considerations
- Use AI tools to enhance productivity and creativity
- Apply prompt engineering techniques for improved AI interactions
The course is taught with a companion eLearning course and online live streamed workshops
When?
The full 'Artificial Intelligence Essentials' Course starts 7 October 2025 running for six weeks excluding half term, Tuesdays 12:30pm - 2:30pm - this will be delivered ONSITE in the Richmond Business School.
The courses are free to those who apply and meet the criteria.
Who is the course and funding for?
This course is designed for beginners and non-technical individuals interested in understanding and applying AI. No prior experience with AI or coding is required. This course focuses on those from the following underrepresented groups:
- Learners with disabilities/difficulty/health problem
- Those over the age of 50
- Women
- Racial Minorities (BAME)
- Unemployed (in receipt of benefit or self-declared, long term unemployed due to health/disability)
- Underemployed people (Zero Hours contracts or Sole Traders with insufficient work)
This course is also only for Learners who face barriers to learning such as transport costs to travel to college, childcare expenses, limited access to technology equipment and data, potential lost earnings can apply for the AI opportunity bursary.
Can I get help with costs?
Yes, the funding allows us to support your with costs such as childcare expenses, IT equipment, internet allowance, meals and travel expenses.
