This course provides a practical introduction to the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI). You will explore key concepts, tools, and ethical considerations, and gain hands-on experience with popular AI applications such as chatbots and image generators.
AI will create challenges and risks within the job market. This course is funded by a project that aims to find individuals most at risk in this current changing landscape and provide funding support and training to equip vulnerable populations with skills needed to navigate and succeed in an AI Driven job market.
By the end of the course, you will you'll have the skills and confidence to integrate AI into your personal and professional life by achieving the following learning outcomes:
Understand key AI concepts and ethical considerations
Use AI tools to enhance productivity and creativity
Apply prompt engineering techniques for improved AI interactions
A funding bursary allows us to support your with costs such as childcare expenses, IT equipment, internet allowance, meals and travel expenses.

The course is divided into six modules:
1. Foundations of AI
Introduction to machine learning and generative AI concepts
Capabilities and limitations of AI tools
Interactive exercises using conversational AI (e.g., ChatGPT, Bard)
2. AI Tools and Applications
Overview of AI tools for text and image generation
Hands-on activities: generating emails and creative visuals
3. AI Collaboration and Workflow Integration
Exploring how AI can streamline workplace tasks
Practical applications for everyday scenarios
4. AI Skills and Prompt Engineering
Techniques to craft effective prompts
Iterative improvements for better AI outputs
5. Responsible AI
Understanding AI ethics: privacy, bias, and security
Frameworks for using AI responsibly
6. Future of AI
Exploring new tools and trends
Developing a personalized AI learning plan
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
This course is designed for beginners and non-technical individuals interested in understanding and applying AI. No prior experience with AI or coding is required. This course focuses on those from the following underrepresented groups:
Learners with disabilities/difficulty/health problem
Those over the age of 50
Women
Racial Minorities (BAME)
Unemployed (in receipt of benefit or self-declared, long term unemployed due to health/disability)
Underemployed people (Zero Hours contracts or Sole Traders with insufficient work)
This course is also only for Learners who face barriers to learning such as transport costs to travel to college, childcare expenses, limited access to technology equipment and data, potential lost earnings can apply for the AI opportunity bursary.

Assessment is based on completing a professional learning plan and participation in practical activities and discussions.
Regular attendance is essential or you will not be able to achieve your certificate.
You also must complete the elearning weekly ahead of lessons as instructed.

You will be asked to complete a personal learning plan to monitor your learning on the course.
Learners completing the course successfully will be able to receive a AI essentials certificate from Coursera which is in partnership with Google.
Further Study Options
Further course in aspects of AI such as data science and machine learning with Python, or the Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma : Digital technologies/Computing which contain AI related content. Or other creative generative AI courses.
